Fashion Friday is being renamed today to FREEZING Friday.  For those of you not in Chicago…it’s freezing.  -2 degrees to be exact…-20 windchill.  Burrrrrrrrrrr.  The commute to work this morning was bitterly painful and on top of that the heat in my office is broken!  One word to describe me right now…frigid.

Gary is out of town this weekend and I have NOTHING to do which I am ecstatic about (the nothing to do part…not the Gary being gone part).  So today’s Fashion friday isn’t so much fashionable as it is functional.  We’ll call it cozy comfort.  These are my picks for my stay at home, snuggled on the couch, coffee in hand, watch movies all day weekend.

These “Long Jane” PJ’s are so cute and so comfy.  They make me feel like I live in some mountainous region and I have just come in off the slopes.  Which then makes me feel extra sporty and stylish.  🙂

These are my FAVORITE THINGS EVER! My sister-in-law got these for me a few years back and I live in them.  I love my real cowboy boots more than anything so to be able to have  cowboy boot slippers is icing on the cake!

I also live in scarves.  I wear them from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed.  And I have been known to accidentally fall asleep still wearing one.  Maybe my neck is extra sensitive…I don’t know…but when the cold weather is here…so are my scarves.

And last but not least, coffee.  No weekend is complete without the smell of coffee brewing in the morning and relaxing while enjoying a hot cup.  I have this thing for mugs/cups that state the obvious.   So this mug that says coffee is very appropriate in my life.  🙂

So this weekend…all of the above and me will be cozied on my couch.  The arctic air will be nowhere near me.  Exactly as I like it.

Have a great weekend!

In case you’re keeping tabs…last weekend’s date night was a smashing success.  But I have a tip…when going to a restaurant that serves you unlimited meat….DO NOT WEAR TIGHTS.  Talk about miserable.  I’m pretty sure my entire body expanded at least one inch in every direction once those bad boys came off.

So this week on Fashion Friday I am focusing on all things everyday.  Or at least the things I’m obsessed with on a day to day basis.

Fashion Fiday

Left: I just recently purchased a Mac Book Pro and and am seriously in love with it.  To the point where I want to take it everywhere with me.  And I have decided there is no reason to lug around a chunky, bulky, black laptop case when you can carry this lovely, leather laptop tote.  Tote just sounds better if you ask me.

Right: I literally live in dresses.  I actually strongly dislike jeans.  I wear dresses every day…no matter what.  So when I stumbled across this little gem I was in love.  Cotton, stretchy, embellished…mine.

Fashion Fiday

Left: Boots are my weakness.  But the cold makes it very frustrating to wear my lovely leather boots because 1. I slide all over the place and 2. my toes turn into hypothermic icicles.  Enter my new obsession for cold weather boots.  There’s a piggy bank on my dresser with these boots name on it.

Right: And also plaid.  Plaid is my thing this winter.  It makes me feel a little country, a little casual, and a lot sassy.  I’ve already envisions 37 outfits that this plaid coat is going to excellent with!  🙂

Fashion Fiday

And last but not least by new love that has not left my wrist except to sleep and shower.  Literally.  This watch was given to me as gift and it is hands down one of my favorite belongings.  Besides the fact that anything Michael Kors makes my heart beat a little faster…just the small task of putting it on every morning makes my day just a little brighter.

Happy Fashion Friday!  I’d love to hear what you think about them!!

I like them – especially the boots – you need warm bootsReplyCancel

Woo Hoo!  It’s Friday!  And it’s not just any Friday…it’s the inaugural Fashion Friday.  I am in quite the good mood today seeing as tonight is date night.  I live for date night.  Life can get so hectic and TV shows pile and sleep becomes deprived and you forget to take time to just turn it all off and relax.  So tonight…that is exactly what I am doing.  Gary and I are going to spend a night out…enjoying the opposite of all the things listed above.  So in honor of date night…Fashion Friday is going to be focusing on one of my favorite things to do, dress up.  And there’s no better time to dress up than on a date!  Here is my dream date night outfit….

dress

Dress from Modcloth.com LOVE this site.  Their stuff is ridiculously cute and cheap.

tights

Tights from Forever 21.  My tights never last longer than a season…since I wear them nonstop…so I refuse to pay an insane amount for them.  Enter Forever 21.

boyfriend blazer

A black boyfriend blazer.  I LOVE these.  I have one in every color and I wear them with everything.  And as cute as my fantasy date dress is…let’s get real…I live in Chicago and it’s January.  I need some warmth…and Gary just wont’ do.

bootsKnee high black boots form DSW.  My mantra is you can never have too many boots in life.  Ever.

braceletsBracelets.  I have an unhealthy obsession with bracelets.  I wear them ALL the time.  Even when I’m hanging around the house in PJs.  They are my must-have bling.

Now that’ I’ve created my fantasy date night outfit…I am 100% sure I have NOTHING to wear tonight.  Didn’t really think this one through.  🙂  I hope you enjoyed the first of many Fashion Fridays.  I’s love to hear all your fashion obsessions…leave them in a comment below!  Have a great weekend!

Have a great time on your date night – very important these date nights. And you always look great in whatever. Gary will love you not matter what you wear but do dress up!

My obsession is comfortable but stylish – I am always looking for that!ReplyCancel

So what did you wear on your date night?ReplyCancel

    • laurenwakefield - January 10, 2011 - 2:33 am

Something sassy of course. 🙂 White dress, black tights, boots, long sweater, I ate so much that I literally thought my dress was going bust at the seems. Unlimited meat is not always a good thing… 🙂ReplyCancel

Today I am starting a new series on my blog.  It is going to be called “Fashion Friday.” I realize it is only Wednesday…but I am giving you a sneak peek of this new addition.  Every Friday I will be giving you a little insight into my fashion obsessions of the moment.  Why I love them…where to get them…and why you can’t live without them.  As a wedding photographer, I love taking inspiration from fashion photography and always urge my brides to bring out their inner fierceness.  I studied fashion photography is college and there’s nothing I love more than turning my brides into supermodels.  SO be sure to check back on Friday for the inaugural Fashion Friday! For now…here’s a little teaser.

Boyfriend Blazer

Boyfriends Blazers.  A necessity in every color.  I literally wear one every single day.

I’m counting down the days until the holidays but I couldn’t take off before sharing Missy & Rick’s maternity session with you.  I love shooting weddings because I get to be a part of love at it’s finest.  And I love maternity sessions because I get to capture the beauty that love can create (I know that sounds way cheesy).  There’s nothing like the glow of a first time mom and the way her husband stares at her in utter happiness.  It’s magical and I love every second of it.  Missy and Rick were nothing short of glowing.  You could see the happiness beaming off of them.  This is their first baby and I have no doubt that they are going to rock the socks off of parenting.  Blog world…meet Missy and Rick.
