In exactly one week and 2 hours Gary and I will be on our way to Boston. To say this mini-vacation is overdue is an understatement. The weather in Chicago has been ridiculously depressing (I’m imagining Boston to have the perfect spring weather…don’t burst my bubble)…and Gary and I have both had a ton on our plates lately so the idea of getting away from it all for a weekend sounds absolutely blissful right now. We will be visiting our very good friends, Cara and Shane. Or as I like to call it…the Belvin B&B. I mean you wake up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and there is bacon in the Bloody Marys. What more could you ask for? As I get ready for this trip I have been putting myself into a Boston state of mind. And I thought what better way way to prepare than with a Fashion Friday dedicated solely to Boston. I mean it’s the East Coast after all…I have to pack my suitcase accordingly.

The perfect cardigan.  It gets breezy on the beach…and I envision these cardigans providing me much needed warmth.  🙂

Dresses.  Anyone who reads this blog knows I love me some dresses.

Loose, comfy Ts.  We’re going to be out taking pictures and enjoying their little beach front town….a comfy T is a must. The Perfct T

White.  Jeans.  This is the not the first time white jeans have graced this blog.  I have wanted a pair for almost 3 years now and I am going to search high and low until I find the perfect pair.  I WILL have white jeans in Boston.

Accessories…of course.  I’ll be packing my hundreds of scarves and bracelets…and of course my new Michael Kors trench coat.

As a photographer, relationships with vendors are absolutely imperative.   The wedding industry is a huge industry and it’s easy to forget that we are all in this together.  It’s so refreshing to find a company that is truly kind and will do anything to provide the best product possible.  I found that company in Leather Craftsmen.  I posted a while back about my first sample album I designed and ordered through LC.  David, from Leather Craftsmen was nice enough to feature my blog post on their homepage.  It’s things like that…things that are completely unexpected and unwarranted…that make me love this industry more and more every day.  Thanks, Leather Craftsmen, for my amazing sample album and reminding me how a little but of kindness can go a long way.

Gary and I were talking the other day on our way out of the gym…we were joking that I see the people in my bootcamp and boxing classes more than I see my best friends.  I mean I work out almost every night of the week and most Saturdays…and usually with with same people every time.   I’ve been going to the same gym and the same classes for years now and I’ve had the chance to become friends with a lot of the people I work out with.  And trust me…you really get to know someone when you’ve gone through the pain of Jill Nelson’s boxing class together.  Melissa is one of the people.  We’ve shed blood, sweat, and tears together.  OK…maybe just sweat…but whatever.  I was so excited when she asked me to take pictures of her brand new baby, Madelyn.  And I was even more excited that the day we planned to get together it happened to be 80 degrees outside.  This was my first outdoor photo session of the Spring and it felt so good to get back into the swing of things.  And it didn’t hurt that Madelyn is the cutest little thing ever.  Her cheeks were killing me!  Love her!

I can’t tell you how good it feels to be getting back into the swing of things.  Photo season is here and I am pumped.  To kick it off I have one of the most precious, chubby-cheeked babies you will ever see.  Meet Madelyn.  I’ve been editing her photos with a giant smile on my face so I just had to jump on here and share a little teaser with you.  Stay tuned for the rest…

Weddings are all about style.  More specifically you’re own personal style.  A lot of times you can mistake a lot of style on your wedding day for a lot of money spent on your wedding day.  But that’s not always the case.  Sure you can book the most elite venue…or buy the most exquisite designer dress…but there are SO many other ways to let your style shine through.  Your wedding day is about you and sometimes it’s easy to fall into the mold of what you “should” look like.  I say break out of that mold.  Take some chances and let your personal style shine.  Today on Fashion Friday I’ve highlighted what, in my opinion, are great ways to bring out your personal style on your wedding day.  Enjoy!

Accessories.  Believe me…I love diamonds as much as the next girl.  But you are putting the most important diamond of your life on you finger today…so take chances on the rest of your accessories.  Stack up some great bangles, wear an amazing statement necklace or a hair piece that lets your personality shine.

Another great way to add a little pop to your day is with your shoes.  Have fun with them.  You could have them match your bridesmaid dresses or let them be a color all on their own!

More often than not your wedding dress will be strapless or at least sleeveless.  A bright, unique, colorful cardigan is a great way to show off your style.  Cardigans are perfect because you don’t have to wear them all night, but if you get a little chilly you can throw it on.  AND….they look awesome in photos!

Hope this helps make your wedding day that much more amazing!  Happy Fashion Friday!
