There is one perk of being a wedding photographer that I absolutely love.  I can peruse wedding sites and subscribe to wedding magazines without looking like some wedding obsessed girlfriend who is not so subtly dropping hints.  🙂  I still remember the first time Gary saw my issue of Martha Stewart Weddings sitting on the counter.  The look on his face was priceless.  But I quickly assured him it was only for research.  I think he bought it.  😉  Let’s just say I really like to research!  So today on Fashion Friday it’s all about weddings.  As most girls out there will agree…there’s not a whole lot that is better than looking through hundreds of wedding dresses and daydreaming about what yours will look like.  But hey…no daydreaming here…this is strictly for research…

Wedding Dresses

I’m a huge fan of the simple, yet elegant dress.

Wedding Dresses

I’ve only been a bridesmaid once…and I’m happy to say I was left with a dress I actually love.  I don’t see any reason why you can’t find an incredubly stylish, yet appropriate dress for all your bridesmaids.

I love the neutral hues…

But bold colors can also look amazing too…

I feel like everywhere I look, brides are wearing these trendy hair pieces.  And I must say I love them.  There are so many options that you should never have a problem finding one that really represents your style.

Happy Fashion Friday!  🙂

You know those friends in your life that you can sit and talk to for hours.  Sit and talk about anything…life…careers…home decorating…the importance of bacon in one’s diet…you know, anything.   Those friends that you can go months without talking to and the second you see them pick right back up where you left off.   Those friends that you feel so insanely lucky to have.  The Belvins are those kinds of friends to me.  I only get to see them a few times a year, but it never seems to matter.  We always have the greatest time…and it’s always the greatest time doing nothing.  Which is what I love more than anything.  There is no doubt in my mind that I will be making my yearly getaways out to Boston for many years to come.  And I know Cara and Shane will be waiting…freezer full of bacon…ready to talk for hours about anything.

And of course along with my visits comes lots of photos of the kiddos…they grow up so fast.  🙁

So I’ve been really into the whole over-sized t-shirt and jeans thing that is going on right now.  It’s cute…so comfortable…and there are literally a million options.   You can dress it up with a statement necklace and heels or throw on some flats and go.  Definitely my fav right now.  I think one of the best staples to have in your wardrobe is the perfect t-shirt.   You can wear it over and over again and nothing makes you feel better than a great pair of jeans and the perfect t-shirt.   So that said…today on Fashion Friday it’s all about the t-shirt.  Enjoy!

Yes…I had to include the “Pugs not drugs shirt.  And I desperately need to add that to my wardrobe.

T Shirts

These are my picks for the perfect t-shirt.  I literally have hundreds of t-shirts but these are the ones I keep going back to.

They sell these shirts anywhere from Nordstrom to Whole foods.  They are super thin and come in a million colors.  I have like 12.

Threads for Thought

I usually despise American Apparel but when it comes to a good T-shirt they have it down.  I also have like 12 of these.

American Apparel

Gap…enough said.

What would I do without Target?  These T-shirt are $8 and, in my opinion, are perfect.  A simple cotton T that you can wear with anything.

Target

Per recommendation of best friend, Stef.  You can get 2 of these bad boys for $24.

Happy Fashion Friday!!!  Guess what…the weather is finally nice today!  I think I’ll go for a walk. 🙂

I sat at baggage claim while Gary waited for our bags.  We were taking a ferry from Boston to Scituate and I was extremely excited.   I was picturing a refreshing libation with the wind in my hair.  I couldn’t wait.  10 minutes passed.  Then 20.  Then 30.  Our bags still hadn’t shown up and panic had taken over my body.  The last thing I wanted to deal with was lost luggage.  And on top of all that I didn’t want to miss the boat!  We waited and waited and waited…and finally Gary headed to the office.  Nothing good happens when you have to go to the office.  He came charging back to where I was sitting with a look of pure shame on his face.  He pointed behind me and then it hit me.  We were at the wrong carousel.   Our bags were sitting in the roped off area 20 feet from where we were standing.  I couldn’t even get mad…I just laughed.  You would think the giant Jet Blue sign on the wall would have given it away…seeing as we flew United.  But OH no.  Nonetheless…we gathered our things and headed for the boat.  Refreshing libation in hand and wind blowing through my hair…I just smiled.   I was headed to the perfect town to hang out with the perfect family for what was sure to be the perfect weekend.

This week has been crazy…but I had to at least post a quick little peek of the Belvins.  There’s much more to come…I promise.

    Hi Lauren,
Haven’t been to the site in a while – we were in New Zealand for 3+ weeks. Your pics look fantastic. I can see a steady progression in what I call “photographic energy” Can’t define it – just know it when I see it and you are doing it very well. Keep up the good work and take good care,
    SteveReplyCancel

Thanks Steve!!! I’m loving every second of it so hopefully that means it’s showing! 🙂 How awesome was New Zealand?? I have to go back there one day.ReplyCancel

I always look through the gossip magazines and see photos of celebrities in airports.  They always look so fresh and fabulous.  I mean who looks like that when they’re flying?  It’s so unfair.  I’m the one carrying 87 pounds of carry on luggage with yoga pants on setting off the metal detector.  One time I was going through security and I had to take off my boots.  I realized as I was pulling off the second boot that I was wearing two different socks.   And not just two different white socks…one was turquoise with yellow flowers and the other had Santa Claus on it.  So embarrassing.  And if you’re wondering why I was wearing two different socks…that’s just how I roll.  Ever heard of the sock monster…yeah he lives in my closet.

I’m leaving for Boston in a few hours and I am determined to make this my most stylish flight yet….yoga pants and all.  So today on Fashion Friday I’m going to show you my favorite fashionable travel must haves.    The paparazzi may not be following me this time…but I’m pretty sure I can talk Gary into snapping a creepy, voyeuristic photo of me from across the terminal.  🙂

First up…a big bag or tote to carry all your important travel stuff.  I used to try to stuff all my magazines, books, cards, scarves, and snacks into a little purse.  No good.  And then of course a travel journal…equipped with a  fine point sharpie.  You can’t let a genius thought you have while flying get forgotten.

Micheal Kors Tote

I’m the first to admit I am always digging through my bag looking for my boarding pass.   Which then causes that momentary panic where I think I’ve lost it.  If I had this cute little travel wallet I would be panic free.

A pair a travel flats.  These things are awesome because you can stick them in any size bag and have them for emergencies.

A scarf.  I don’t go anywhere without a scarf…especially an airplane.

The neck pillow.  They may look weird but they are more than necessary.   And while the pig shaped neck pillow may not be stylish….it makes me smile.

Travel Accessories

I am constantly complaining about how I never have time to read.  I have a stack of business books the size of Goose that I haven’t even started.   With all the downtime that comes with flying I always bring books.  And reading is stylish, right?  Right now the two on my list are How to Win Friends and Influence People and Purple Cow. I’ll let you know how they are.

Business Books

I’m slightly obsessed with these luggage tags.  Bags all look alike these days so cute luggage tags are a great way to make sure your bag stands out.  Or you could get these adorable vintage trunk suitcases.  They make me so happy.

Stylish Luggage

I don’t know about you, but the first thing I do when I get through security is hit up the news stand.  I usually leave with about 5 pounds worth of fashion magazines and pack of big red.  Just in case my ears pop.

Fashion Magazines

And last but not least…a super cozy cardigan.  Airplanes can be frigid so having something soft and comfy to keep you warm is a must. Cozy Sweaters

Well…I’m off to the East Coast for some r&r, clam chowder, and sunshine.  Have a great weekend and happy Fashion Friday!
