Mark + Jen : Married

For miles I saw the billboards. “World’s Largest Christmas Store.” “Bonners.” “A must see.” It wasn’t until I got closer that I realized this wonderland of a store was the exact place I was headed. Frankenmuth, MI. Home of the Christmas wonderland. As I rolled into town I passed what seemed like acres of Christmas. In September. Giant snowmen and light-up Santa’s. It was definitely something to see. As I got further into Frankenmuth, I realized this town was different. There were covered bridges and antique storefronts. Horse and buggies and signs everywhere for the best chicken dinner you’ve ever tasted. This place was one of a kind…just like Mark and Jen.

From the first time I met Mark and Jen to our goodbyes on the night of their wedding…they’ve always had this warmth about them. They are so kind and compassionate…not only towards each other but to everyone around them. From day one I felt like they looked at me as more than just a photographer…I felt like they saw me as a friend. And the feeling was mutual. Seeing the pure love on their faces and the tears of joy in their eyes as they read their vows made me proud to know them. And even prouder to have been given the chance to document their day. Their story…as it starts it’s next chapter.

Mark and Jen…I wish I could just take a little piece of you guys with me wherever I go. Everything about both of you is so loving and genuine…and a great reminder of how we all should live life. Thank you for bringing me into your lives and sharing even a little bit of yourselves with me. I honestly love you guys to death! I wish you the happiest life you could ever imagine. 🙂

Jen did a “first look” with her dad which I thought was so sweet.

They got married outside a one room schoolhouse that Jen’s family built. I loved the history behind it.

Instead of doing a bouquet toss, Jen had all the single ladies sign the bottom of her shoe and at the end of the night, the most legible name was the next one to get married. I love unique ideas!

Yep…that’s a horse and buggy.

The perfect end to a perfect night…

Fashion Friday : Pinterest Roundup

I don’t know about you…but whenever I have what I like to call…outfit block…I turn to Pinterest. You know…for some inspiration or at least to distract myself from the fact that I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. Inevitably…someone has thought of the perfect way to wear a denim shirt and then suddenly all my outfit problems are solved. It’s kind of like magic if you think about it. Internet outfit magic.

So with Fall trying so hard to push it’s way into our lives…Pinterest is overflowing with all the Fall outfits that I dream about wearing. Trench-coats and blazers. Scarves and all the gingham a girl can handle. Now if the weather would just cooperate enough so I could actually wear these things…I would be very appreciative. But I have faith…that the return of Pumpkin Spice will somehow convince mother nature to get it together. But in the meantime…I will peruse the pages of Pinterest and daydream about mid 60’s with a touch of chill. Until then…here are a few of my favs.

Jon + Shevawn : Engaged

I remember seeing her Young Life t-shirt and immediately sparking up a conversation. I went to a few Young Life camps in high school so, of course, I had to say something. I liked her from the start. She’s one of those people who make it easy. Easy to talk to her. Easy to be her friend. She’s genuinely interested in you and she’s the type of person who really cares. And then there’s Jon. When I met him I hadn’t seen Shevawn in a while but the second I saw her walking towards our table I could tell that she was glowing. She looked happy. Really happy. And as we sat there chatting about wedding goodness…I could tell he was glowing too. He just kept looking at her with this smile that was unmistakable. It was pure adoration…and at that moment I knew they were the real deal. Shevawn and Jon are the ‘finish each other’s sentences laugh til your side hurts and love as hard as you can’ type of couple…and they make it so easy. I honestly couldn’t be more excited to be a part of their wedding day.

So internet…meet Jon and Shevawn.

Gesi + Leo : Married

It’s that look. Every bride wants to remember it and Gesi was no different. As she made her way down the aisle, Leo’s face was full of joy. And awe. In awe of her beauty and the mere fact that he was finally going to make her his wife. They locked eyes and I did everything in my power to make sure she would always remember this moment. Just how it was. As the ceremony went on…they exchanged vows, had their first kiss as husband and wife and made their way back up the aisle. And then another moment happened. One that no one was anxiously waiting for…or even saw coming. As they cleared the last row, Leo threw his face into his hand and cried. He cried because this girl, who he’s been through so much with, was by his side. He cried because he knew this was the way life was supposed to play out. And more than anything he cried because he was happy. So happy. To call Gesi his wife. And as she looked back up at him with her big doe eyes…you could see the feeling was mutual.

Gesi and Leo…your love is something to strive for. Just being around you, it’s obvious how ridiculously meant to be you are. Thank you so much for trusting me with the biggest day of your lives. I was truly honored to be a part of it. I love you guys so much and can’t wait to see what’s next…

Ummm…are her shoes not amazing. I’ll take one in every color please… 🙂

Gesi made their invitations by hand. Goldfish was kind of a theme through their day and I just couldn’t get enough of these invites.

Instead of the Unity Candle, they combined 2 goldfish into one bowl. I love how unique and personal this idea was.

The lovely ladies. They were so much fun to work with. And get this…the girl on the far right…her name is Lauren OLDfield. What are the chances!?!?!!?

Gesi…your eyes! I can’t stand it!

I don’t think I’ve ever said this about a groom…but Leo was beaming. He never took his eyes off her (unless I forced him of course).

We snuck outside for some quick sunset portraits.

There’s that look. Melts my heart.

They had everyone come outside and stand in a circle around them with sparklers for their first dance. Another detail that is so unique to them.

Gesi is a professional ballroom dancer. As were several of the guests. Quite entertaining.

The end. Gesi and Leo…you guys definitely have a special little place in my heart.
