This was my first time meeting with a bride since I had gotten married…and I was stoked. It was like something felt different because for the first time I understood exactly what she was feeling. All the excitement and anticipation and wanting every single thing to be exactly perfect. And more importantly I had a whole new appreciation for what wedding photos meant to a bride…because I had been one.
When Jess sat down we started chatting and I liked her immediately. We talked about literally everything. We ordered tacos and another round of drinks and we talked for hours. She told me about her life and her Jake…who after meeting him is one of the nicest guys I think I’ve ever met. We talked about her engagement and her wedding and her love of the number 25. Somehow this number has followed her and Jake through their relationship and when the time came to pick their date they knew it had to be 9-25. And then she proceeded to tell me that when I responded to her initial email…it was at 9:25 and in that moment I was sure this was meant to be. What felt like an hour was actually three and as I walked to my car I crossed my fingers and my toes that she would want me to shoot their wedding because I knew she would be so much more than a bride…she would be a friend. And a pretty awesome one at that.
Jess and Jake…I feel SO lucky to have met you guys. Hanging out with you in Lake Geneva was honestly magical. It was the perfect night and it made me so incredibly excited for your wedding! From the perfect weather to those awesome sailors letting us on their boat…it was one for the books. And I know your wedding will be no different. Thanks again for the Spotted Cow…I’m sure there will be many more in our future. 🙂
