For some reason this post is really hard to write for me. Where do you start when you’re talking about one of your oldest friends? Someone who’s known you since you were 15 and you’ve literally been through everything with. When I met Scott…I was a hostess at Arni’s. We worked together and we used to stand at the host stand and talk for hours. He gave me advice about my high school boyfriends and I would look forward to every Monday night when we would work together again. Over the years we didn’t just become friends…we became best friends. The kind of friends you know you’ll have forever. When I think back over the last 13 years so many of the great memories I have involve Scott. There are too many to count…but they are memories that will always have a special place in my heart.
A few years ago Scott moved to New York City for work. We didn’t talk as much but when we did…it was like no time had passed. One thing that kept coming up was Annie. He had met a girl and I knew when he talked about her that she was different. It wasn’t just the things Scott was telling me…I could see how she was lighting up a little part in him that I hadn’t seen in a long time. I could see that he was happy. Really happy. When Scott told me he was engaged I had to sort of pinch myself for a minute. How did we get from that hostess stand where we didn’t have a clue what life had in store for us…to today. To right now. Being engaged to the loves of our lives and finding a happiness that we used to only dream about. How did we get so lucky?
When I visited Scott and Annie I saw exactly what Scott had always talked about. It’s like when they’re together life is easy. Like they are two parts that just fit perfectly together and it makes sense. They bring out the best versions of each other and if you ask me I think that’s something that when you find…you have to hold onto.
Scott…I couldn’t imagine life without you buddy. You’ll always be my best friend and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see you happy. You deserve it more than anyone in the world. And Annie…thank you for loving Scott in the best possible way. He’s so lucky to have you. I can’t wait for your wedding and all the memories I know we’ll make down the road. Love you guys!!!!!
